Casting is everything – the key to working in this industry.  The main focus of Being an Actor will be understanding that acting is a job and that, in order to succeed, you need to know what roles best suite your personality and traits.  My goal is to provide you with the tools necessary to become a working actor.

The class will cover:
  • Scene Study
               – The foundations of building a character
               – Always making a choice (in the audition room too)
               – Breaking down a scene and understanding if you’re right for the part
  • The Importance of Rehearsal
               – Acting requires practice and time, only through rehearsal will you be able to improve
  • How to be Disciplined
               – Be on time, be prepared, and don’t make excuses!
  • How to Direct Yourself
               – Learn how to be self-sufficient
  • Audition Technique
               – How to prepare, what to expect, the do’s and the don’ts
               – How to communicate with the “people in the room”
               – How to prepare for one-line auditions for co-stars, guest stars, and series regulars
  • Taped-Auditions
              – How to prepare, how to dress, how to shoot the audition and submit it
  • Manager/Agent Relationships
              – How to maximize these partnerships to advance your career

You will be in a space that provides a safe environment to take risks, make mistakes, fail and ask all the questions that no one else has answered for you. We will work on getting rid of any old habits that hinder your acting, and we will learn how to be specific.

As an actor, director, and talent representative, I understand the business and art of show business. Together we’ll build self-respect, self-confidence, and self-expression. Being an Actor brings together the art and business of acting. You will learn how to structure your life in a way that allows you to pursue what you love and sustain yourself.
